I’m writing to let you know that effective May 22, 2023, Guilford will not require students, faculty and staff to have the COVID vaccination series and boosters in order to study and work at the College. This decision was informed by input from the Health & Safety Task Force and area health professionals, community survey data, national trends and, ultimately, endorsement by the President’s Cabinet.
Guilford continues to take the virus seriously while acknowledging an increased level of immunity in our campus community based on the care that has been taken by individuals and the College to date.
We will continue to:
- strongly encourage vaccination uptake among new Guilford students and employees
- have COVID vaccination clinics on campus and provide COVID tests
- respect the right of individuals to choose to wear a mask at any time
- honor requirements of mask-wearing in a particular class, office or event
We reserve the opportunity to review this decision and take other action as the situation warrants.
At Guilford, we have faced many challenges as a community over the previous three years, including dealing with COVID. I am thankful to those on the Health & Safety Task Force and others who have stepped forward to prioritize keeping our campus as safe as possible.
Sincerely,
Kyle Farmbry
President
