Guilford Names Two New Directors


Rebecca Pena is helping assess academic programs and D Summers Jr. '00 is managing all welcoming functions of the College.

Rebecca Pena (above) is Guilford College’s new Director of Institutional Research & Effectiveness, one of two new directors recently appointed by the College.

Rebecca is serving as the central point for collecting, organizing, interpreting and assessing data about Guilford and communicating it internally and externally. She will help assess academic programs, co-curricular programs and all other administrative units of the College.

Rebecca experienced Guilford while leading the inaugural Dissertation Boot Camp on campus in June. Guilford’s boot camp brings together doctoral candidates from around the country for a week to collaborate and inspire each other while working on their dissertations.

Before arriving at Guilford, Rebecca was a senior manager at Wild Fig Partners, a Charlotte-based consulting firm that focuses on improved public administration practices.

Rebecca graduated from Millikin University (Ill.) with a double major in Human Services and Music. She earned her master’s in Public Administration and Global Affairs from Rutgers University-Newark. In May, she received her Ph.D. in Global Affairs from Rutgers-Newark.

Guilford also announced the hiring of D Summers Jr. ’00 (right) as Director of Special Events & Hospitality. They spent two years as the Facilities Sales and Booking Manager of the Lawrenceville (Ga.) Arts Center. D also operate Summers Solutions, a consulting firm helping small businesses and nonprofits improve their marketing, sales and fundraising.

D manages all of the welcoming functions of the College and generates new strategies to increase participation in on- and off-campus events ranging from the Bryan Series to conferences and other events arranged by the President’s Office as well as campus-wide events for alumni, donors and community partners.

D graduated from Guilford with a degree in Theatre Studies. They received their master’s in Art Administration and Cultural Policy from Goldsmith’s, University of London.
