Guilford College Provost Maria Rosales named Naadiya Hasan an Associate Academic Dean at the College. Naadiya is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology.
In her new position, Naadiya reports directly to Maria in helping direct the College’s academic program and environment.
“I’m excited to work with Naadiya,” Maria says. “She’s an exceptional colleague who will bring exciting new ideas and a thoughtful approach to the role as we continue to grow and transform the College.”
Naadiya’s duties will include:
- Chairing the search for a new Bonner coordinator.
- Clerking the Policy Committee and Space Committee.
- Working with a task force on reorganizing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
- Having oversight for the Learning and Writing Centers.
Naadiya has been a faculty member at Guilford since 2007. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies at the University of Virginia and her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Sociology at Yale University.
The Associate Academic Dean is a full-time position; Naadiya will also teach a three-week study abroad as an overload.
Kathryn Shields, a Professor of Art, also serves as Associate Academic Dean, a position she has held since 2017.
