Biography


Uma joined the Chemistry Department at Guilford College as a part-time lecturer in 2010. She has taught a mix of class and lab sections for General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, and Polymer Chemistry. She has served as a faculty advisor for the Integrated Research Lab as well as a tutor and coordinator for Chem 911.

Prior to coming to the US in 2008, Uma worked as a researcher in India, focusing on water soluble polymer coatings for electrical applications, which led to her Ph.D. Thesis. She briefly worked in the quality and business development areas at Deepthi Organics LLC in Greensboro, and is now back at Guilford College teaching General Chemistry courses.
