Sports Are Our Business

Sports are much more than fun and games — they're big business. Get in on the action with a major in Sport Management, which prepares you to be a team leader in building organizational success.

This course of study is an interdisciplinary program conducted in cooperation with the departments of Business, Accounting, and Economics, as it’s closely related to traditional business operations. The program develops your critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as the written and interpersonal-communication skills you need to succeed in professions related to the sport industry.

Sport management majors intern with organizations including the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Women’s Sports Foundation, as well as with professional sport franchises including DC United and the New York Mets. Graduates have gone on to careers with FIFA Women’s World’s Cup, Duke University and Comcast.

“Ultimately, through my time at Guilford I have not only become a better student, athlete and leader, but a better human being. I am more compassionate and understanding than I ever thought I could be; much of that is due to the positive sense of community that Guilford encourages on campus.”
