Biography
I am a part-time faculty member in the History Department. Professor Zhihong Chen and I connected several years ago when she was the department head, and she asked if I would be interested in teaching at Guilford. I began teaching in 2007 and have led a variety of introductory and advanced-level college courses and research seminars. I have also developed several interdisciplinary courses, such as one on conspiracy theories and “fake news,” another on the development of international law and global justice, and a philosophy course on war. My favorite area to research and teach concerns human rights and the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial, and I previously served as a Road Scholar for the North Carolina Humanities Council where I presented a program entitled, “Judging Nazis: John Parker’s Nuremberg Journey.” Currently, I am developing an immersive role-playing simulation of the Nuremberg trial where students take on the roles of historic figures from the trial and have a set of objectives they need to complete to succeed. When I am not teaching and researching, I enjoy hiking, playing basketball, and spending time with my family.
