Majors and Minors
"I have become a much improved scholar, researcher, teacher, student and person. In history, I completed an eye-opening research experience and gained a true love for learning about the past. As a teacher, I have developed classroom management and a stronger voice. I feel prepared for the life ahead of me."
- History Major and Minor: The A.B. degree in History requires 32 credit hours for the major and 16 for the minor. Students may choose an area of historical specialization but must take at least one course in each of the following three geographical areas: United States, Europe and non-Western.
- Early World History Track: The minor in Early World History consists of four courses covering such topics as Colonial Latin America, Medieval civilization, Africa before 1800, Imperial China and Ancient Greece.
- European History Track: The minor in European History consists of four courses covering such topics as Renaissance Florence, the French Revolution and immigration.
- Modern World History Track: The minor in Modern World History consists of four courses covering such topics as the Second World War, Civil War and Reconstruction and history of Chinese women.
- U.S. History Track: The minor in U.S. History consists of four courses covering such topics as American Rivers, American Frontiers and the Underground Railroad.
