Love Wisdom at Guilford

Let your love of knowledge and wisdom grow at Guilford. This continually evolving form of study will develop your reasoning, writing, listening and speaking skills, preparing you for success in a multitude of fields, including public service. A Philosophy minor also prepares you for a variety of post-collegiate studies, including law school and graduate school.

As a Philosophy minor, you’ll examine fundamental assumptions, raise seemingly impossible-to-answer questions, reflect on aspects of our everyday lives, and analyze powerful philosophical texts. You'll also participate in intensive discussion and analysis of problems and theories that emerge from those texts and examine a range of human conceptual and value systems.

Philosophy minors develop the skills and virtues that are central to philosophical inquiry and debate in four courses designed to engage students as active participants in inquiry and debate.
