Students can work toward Ethical Leadership Certificate at Spring Summit

Guilford students can take steps toward completing the Ethical Leadership certificate by participating in the Ethical Leadership Spring Summit planned Saturday, Feb. 22.

The summit is from 9:30 am-3:30 pm in Founders Hall and is open to all students, faculty and staff. Register here by Thursday, Feb. 20. There is no charge.

“The summit offers a great opportunity for students looking to meaningfully engage with other students around ethical concerns and models of ideas leadership,” said Mark Justad, Director of the Center for Principled Problem Solving and Excellence in Teaching.

There are workshop sessions in the morning and afternoon awarding Ethical Leadership badges required for completing the EL certificate.

Workshops and facilitators include:

  • Ethical Political Engagement with Professor Maria Rosales
  • Applying the EL Model to Real World Ethical Challenges with Amanda Szabo-Huff ’08 and Professor Marius Pascale
  • Transferable Skills: How to Talk About Your Experiences Outside of the Classroom in an Interview with Lisa Cook, OSLE Assistant Director
  • Discernment: Working Through Hard Decisions with Liz Nicholson ’12, QLSP Director

Over lunch, the Ethical Leadership Award will be presented to Down Home North Carolina, which is working to improve the lives of poor and working-class residents in communities in rural counties. Co-director Todd Zimmer will speak about the organization.
