The College has been home to the music festival the past 64 years.
Kami Rowan and Ty Buckner are serving on the 18-member Eastern Music Festival Board of Directors, which supports the nationally recognized summer festival and school that have been based at Guilford College since 1961.
Kami, who is Charles A. Dana Professor of Music at the College, was elected to a second three-year term on the EMF board while Ty, who is Vice President of Communications & Marketing, was elected to his first term.
In 2015, Kami founded the EMF Classical Guitar Summit and is currently director of the program. In addition to teaching at the College since 2005, she leads the U.S. Guitar Orchestra that has performed at Carnegie Hall and internationally.
Ty has been an administrator at Guilford since 2001 and assumed his current role as Vice President in 2022. He and his team manage all aspects of internal and external communications and marketing at the College.
EMF is led by Executive Director Chris Williams and Board Chair Anne Starr Denny. Internationally known conductor Gerard Schwarz recently completed his 16th year as music director.
