Zithobile “Zitty” Nxumalo ’08 has been named President of the Guilford Education Alliance, an independent, Triad-based nonprofit focused on advocating for public schools in Guilford County.

“This is a full circle moment for me because GCS gave me a foundation that made my success possible,” said Zitty, who graduated from Guilford County Schools. “It’s a dream come true to now use my experience to make sure GCS students and teachers have all the tools and support they need to build bright futures.”

Zitty was the founding owner of Deftable, LLC, a leadership consulting business, and she has been a visiting assistant professor at both Wake Forest University and UNCG. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management as an adult student at Guilford College, received a master’s degree in Communication Studies from UNCG and a doctorate in Leadership Studies from N.C. A&T State University. 

Zitty was named one of the Triad Business Journal’s 40 Leaders under 40 in 2016 and was awarded the Leadership Greensboro Service Medal by the City of Greensboro in 2021.
