You are invited to gather Saturday, Nov. 12, in remembrance of Bill Rogers, our 6th President, at which time alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students will honor Bill’s dedication and vision for Guilford’s commitment to a Quaker-inspired liberal arts education. Also, this is an opportunity to imagine our path for the future.

The day will include sharing from some of Bill’s colleagues, President Kyle Farmbry, and William R. Rogers Friends Center Director Wess Daniels, along with Meeting for Worship, a reception at Ragsdale House with Beverley Rogers and family, and a bonfire by the lake. 

Schedule for Nov. 12

• 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. — A Gathering of Friends: Remembering Bill Rogers (Carnegie Room)
• 3 to 3:45 p.m. — Meeting For Worship (Carnegie Room)
• 4 to 5 p.m. — Reception at Ragsdale House
• 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. — Bonfire at Guilford Lake

During Bill’s 16 years as President, from 1980-96, Guilfordians experienced a depth and quality of leadership and guidance that continues to resonate in the lives of alumni and friends of the College. With his passing in July of this year during Kyle's first year as President, there is an opportunity to harness the energy and vision of a contemplative community of learners, and carry it forward to shape the College’s future.

We will ask: How can Guilford continue to be a community of seekers and Quaker spiritual practitioners who are dedicated to preparing students (enrolled and otherwise, i.e. all of us) to identify, discern, accept, and share our gifts to contribute to the common good and healing of this broken world?
