Lincoln Financial Professor of Political Science George Guo recently talked about his latest book, The Politics of the Core Leader in China (Cambridge University Press, 2019), in a podcast interview with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
He joined the podcast to discuss how the "core" of the leadership in China had been influenced by traditional Chinese political thought and China's long political history. He also talked about how the "core" leader affected the dynamics of the elite politics and the mechanism of the shift from a "collective leadership" to strongman politics and vise versa.
George's podcast with Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies of the CSIS, is available online.
