Testing Results for Week of October 25

With no classes being held this past Monday and Tuesday, all students, faculty, and staff (no matter your vaccination status) were required to test this week. If you weren’t tested on Wednesday, you should get tested on Friday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 5 p.m. in the Carnegie Room of Hege Library. Please pre-register at StarMed Healthcare to be tested on Friday, Oct. 29. If you are not able to attend either one of these dates, you can be PCR tested at an off-campus site and submit the result to covidscreening@guilford.edu.

Of the 459 tests administered on Wednesday, Oct. 27, there was only one positive result and that person has already been quarantined.

Update on Vaccine Mandate

Friday, Oct. 15, was the deadline for all faculty, staff, and students to submit proof of their vaccination. Students who did not meet the mandate requirements (either by being vaccinated, obtaining an exemption, or transitioning their schedule to remote instruction only) have heard from the Division of Student Affairs to begin the process of unenrolling. Faculty and staff who did not meet the mandate requirements have heard from Human Resources to begin the process of separating from the College.

If you did not receive a medical or religious exemption and you still need to upload your proof of vaccination, please use the following links:

FACULTY AND STAFF

We have been very pleased with the community’s response to this mandate; see the update on our vaccination status below.

Visitor Policy Being Developed

At the beginning of the semester, all faculty, staff, and students were asked to sign a community compact. With the vaccine mandate now in place, we feel confident that as a community we have done, and are continuing to do, all we can to reduce the risk of catching and spreading the COVID-19 virus. As we open the campus to more events, and as events move indoors with colder weather, we are developing a visitor policy to guide everyone as they plan their events and activities. It is our hope that once this policy has been approved, we will no longer need to have events and activities approved by the Health and Safety Task Force; using the policy we can plan and prepare for our events using the Activity Matrix to guide us.

The Health and Safety Task Force continues to meet weekly to discuss questions about holding in-person events indoors, especially those where members of the greater Greensboro community might be in attendance, and to provide clarification on our Activity Matrix. If you have a question for the committee, please send it to taskforce@guilford.edu.

Thank you for continuing to follow the three W’s by wearing a mask, waiting 3 to 6 feet apart, and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer frequently.

Sincerely,
Health and Safety Task Force
