College Names Director of Human Resources

The Office of the President announced on Wednesday, Sept. 22, that Erickia Elbert is Guilford College’s new Director of Human Resources.

Erickia started on Sept. 15, following a search process chaired by Interim Vice President for Administration and Finance and CFO John Wilkinson. The hiring committee also involved various members of the College community.

Erickia’s nearly 25-year career has included senior-level human resources management roles for such Fortune 500 companies as Coca Cola, Ingersoll Rand, and PPG Industries. Most recently she worked in higher education at N.C. A&T State University as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in HR Counseling from N.C. A&T State University.

At Guilford, Erickia will focus on improving faculty and staff engagement, building and sustaining excellent talent, and supporting initiatives for students, faculty, and staff of the College. She says she chose Guilford because of the family environment and its Quaker-inspired Core Values — community, diversity, equality, excellence, integrity, justice, and stewardship — which align with her personal values.

She lives in Greensboro with her husband and their two children. When not working, she says enjoys traveling, attending church activities, and spending time with her family. She says, “I always believe in putting God first!”

Erickia succeeds Janet Gould, who served as Interim Director of HR from January until this month. Janet is graciously assisting with the transition, which has included relocating the HR office to the first floor of Bauman.
