Here is this week’s update regarding our ongoing College-wide efforts to safeguard the health of our community. Please read the full update for vital information on planning considerations for the Spring 2021 semester, including testing and information on operational considerations.
COVID-19 Statistics
- Total Cases: 50
- Active Cases on Campus: 1
- Students in Quarantine: 30
- *Total Cases are all community members that have notified that they have tested positive--on or off campus.
- *Active Cases are positive cases that have been on campus within the last 14 days
COVID-19 Testing
We transitioned to our randomized testing for this semester. Our first randomized testing clinic was held today and we anticipate the results from that clinic to begin to come in as early as Sunday. If you need to access your individual test results, you can look those up at results.premedinc.com.

Additional Testing Clinics in Guilford County
- The Greensboro COVID-19 testing site is located at Piedmont Hall. Testing is conducted by StarMed Healthcare and test results for this site will be distributed by StarMed Healthcare.
- This is an indoor testing event.
- Extended testing hours are from: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- The location of the testing site is: Piedmont Hall, 2409 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27403
- For pre-registration, please text the word “COVID” to 704-850-6996. You may also register online at https://unityphm.com/campaigns/starmed.
- We have over 30 members who have been close contacts to positive cases.
- All community members in isolation or quarantine are doing well
- We currently have not experienced any deaths or hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
Important News About Dining Services and Other Operations
Earlier this week an announcement went out to faculty, staff and students regarding the lifting of the “remote-only” restrictions for all college classes. We also wanted to announce that starting Monday, the dining hall will be open for restricted dine-in services. The dining hall restrictions will be the same as last semester:
- Reduced seating
- Optional Grab and Go
- No Self Service
The Grill and Rachel's Rose Cottage will offer to-go options only. There is to be no eating in any shared or common space on campus. Face coverings will be required in the dining hall unless you’re actively eating or drinking.
Governor’s Modified Stay at Home Order
As a reminder we are still following North Carolina’s Modified Stay At Home Order that requires people to be at home from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. to last through at least Friday, Jan. 29. We will communicate any updates or changes to the order in next week’s communication.
COVID-19 Vaccine
The Health and Safety Task Force would like to recognize Dr. Krishauna Hines Gaither, Dr. Aleks Babić, Dr. Michele Malotky, Dr. Zoe Stallings, and the Intercultural Engagement Center, for producing a tremendously informative and well presented program about the COVID-19 VACCINE. The panelists provided such a diverse amount of information on the vaccine and were willing to answer several thoughtful questions from the audience. We have received questions about the phase that faculty and staff are eligible to receive the vaccine. The N.C. The Department of Health and Human Services has sent out a very detailed description of those who are available to receive the vaccination within Phase 3, which is the next group to be eligible to receive the vaccine. Faculty and support staff are eligible under Phase 3. We will send more information out as we learn more about the process. Here is a link to that guidance: Deeper Dive into Phase 3
StayHealthy Ambassadors
On Thursday, January 28, from 3 pm - 4 pm we will have our first Stay Healthy Ambassador meeting of the semester. The ambassador program is intended to serve as a student leadership program with the goal of mitigating the spread of COVID-19 on campus. During these meetings, we will discuss how our protocols are to be followed on campus, as well as solutions on how to strengthen our response. Our recommendations will then be discussed with the Health and Safety Task Force.
