Tim Kircher to present annual Newlin lecture on his new book about Renaissance history.
Tim Kircher, H. Curt ’56 and Patricia S. ’57 Hege Professor of History, has just published a book on the history of Renaissance ideas: Before Enlightenment: Play and Illusion in Renaissance Humanism (Leiden: Brill 2021). The book shows new features of Renaissance culture that help explain the origins not only of the humanities but also the sciences. Tim will be talking about his work in the History Department’s annual Algie I. Newlin lecture at 7 p.m. on October 28.
