Associate Professor of Sport Studies Brenda Swearingin took a “dip of faith” and made the 12-mile swim around Charleston, S.C., in October.
Brenda, a former Division I collegiate swimmer at Arkansas, still has desire and passion for the sport. The 12-mile swim in the Charleston waters was an initial test toward her ultimate goal of completing the English Channel Crossing. Her time of 5:04.41 was good enough for 5th place in the women’s division and 15th overall including men and women.
