Guilford College will offer three new professional certificates beginning this summer as part of the launch of the Guilford Career Advancement Program (GCAP), designed for adult learners.
The new, 10-week certificate programs are in the following areas:
Cybersecurity Certificate: This program offers foundational and advanced cybersecurity skills, emphasizing ethical responsibility and social impact.
Adaptive Leadership in Public Services Certificate: This program is designed to equip professionals with the skills to lead strategically and adaptively in complex, rapidly changing environments.
Transformative & Sustainable Business Practices Certificate: This program will equip participants with the skills to drive financial equity, ethical economic development and community wealth-building.
“According to national statistics, 63% of U.S. adults in the workforce pursued professional training last year, 47% reported it helped them advance in their current job, while 29% found it beneficial for new employment opportunities,” says Samantha Massey '13, Learning Experience Designer at Guilford.
The certificates will integrate a Guilford spin, applying an ethical leadership, community engagement, and reflective learning lens to ensure each program develops thoughtful, values-driven professionals. By emphasizing critical inquiry, responsible decision-making, and real-world impact, these offerings stand apart from traditional technical training programs, equipping learners with the tools to navigate complex challenges with purpose and integrity.
Certificate programs will be offered either fully online or as a combination of online and in- person. They will provide foundational and advanced skills, with a focus on providing participants with practical, impactful career building skills in each of the respective courses. They follow a stackable credential model, where each module earns a digital badge, leading to a full certificate after completing all five modules.
Registration for the programs, which cost $1,600 per student, begins March 28. For more information contact Samantha at rummagesl@guilford.edu.
