Acting President Jean Bordewich congratulated the Quakers on winning the ODAC men's tournament Sunday and wished them well heading into the NCAA Division III men's tournament.
“Guilfordians strive for excellence in everything we do and you, our outstanding basketball team, exemplify that.”
Acting President Jean Bordewich dropped by Guilford’s Forbes Sports Center on Tuesday to congratulate the men’s basketball team on winning the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament and wish them well in the NCAA Division III Tournament this week.
Guilford, seeded fifth in last week’s ODAC Tournament, beat third-seeded Roanoke College on Sunday to win their fifth ODAC Tournament title. The Quakers will play Berry College (Ga.) on Friday at Emory University in Atlanta in a first-round game.
Jean told the players she enjoyed hearing about their accomplishments – Guilford knocked off two top-20 teams to win the ODAC -- but added she wasn’t surprised. “Guilfordians strive for excellence in everything we do," she said, "and you, our outstanding basketball team, exemplify that.”
The Quakers (22-6) will play Berry for the second straight year in the first round on Friday at 4:20 pm. at Emory. If Guilford wins, they’ll play the winner of the second game between No. 8-ranked Emory (20-5) and Huntington College( Ala.) (22-6). The games can be viewed online.
Fans are invited to wish the team luck Wednesday when they board a bus for Atlanta. The bus will depart Guilford at 5 pm. from the parking lot next to Alumni Gym.
Last season Guilford advanced five rounds in the NCAA Tournament before losing in the semifinals.
