Campus Group Develops Critical Incident Response Protocol

A campus task group has developed a response protocol to guide the coordination of College communications and support resources when critical incidents occur. Click here to view the protocol document.

Critical incidents that pose actual or perceived threats to the campus community and are covered by the protocol could include domestic or international events, violence on campus locally or nationally, death in the community, political events, health crises, weather emergencies and cyber attacks.

The new protocol builds on the existing Emergency Operations Plan and Weather Emergency Policy and outlines expectations for the provision of well-coordinated internal and external messages and support resources. It includes a Community of Care form for campus community members to use in reporting incidents needing attention.

The protocol was reviewed and approved by the President’s cabinet. It will be overseen by a task group including:

Maria Rosales, Provost
Ty Buckner, Vice President of Communications & Marketing
Erickia Elbert, Director of Human Resources
Ayesha Swinton, Director of Transformation and Inclusion
Taleisha Bowen ’05, Director of Counseling
Ted Johnson, Director of Public Safety
Susanna Westberg, interim Dean of Students
Isaac Magana, Senior Client Services Manager
