Randi will offer an outsider's perspective in helping with the College's board of trustees and strategic plan.
"Guilford prides itself on being a teaching institution and engaging in research and grants-making can very much reflect the values, mission and goals of the institution. That's what we're looking to build at Guilford."
Guilford College is hosting its second American Council on Education Fellow in as many years.
Randi Storch, a Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of History at the State University of New York at Cortland, is working with and learning from President Kyle Farmbry and other College leaders this spring.
Established in 1965, the ACE Fellows Program is designed to strengthen institutional and leadership capacity in American higher education by identifying and preparing faculty and staff for senior positions in college and university administration.
Randi spent the fall at San Diego State University and connected with Guilford periodically last semester before arriving on campus in January.
She is focusing on two programs this spring, working with the College’s board of trustees on governance and best practices in the current environment of higher education and helping support implementation of Envisioning Guilford College 2027, the College’s strategic plan. As part of that plan, Randi is helping to create and support research, grants and sponsorship programs.
"Guilford prides itself on being a teaching institution and engaging in research and grants-making can very much reflect the values, mission and goals of the institution," says Randi. "That's what we're looking to build at Guilford."
Randi is Guilford’s second ACE Fellow in as many years. Sanjeev Choudhary, Professor and Chair of Molecular and Cellular Biology in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Sam Houston State University (Texas), was an ACE fellow in the fall of 2022.
Kyle, who participated in the ACE Fellow program himself in 2017-18, is excited about Randi being in residency at the College this spring, and says he’s looking forward to her insight and contributions.
“Guilford always wants to be a leader in transforming higher education to meet the needs of our students so they can live lives of passion and purpose and take on society’s most pressing needs,” says Kyle.
“Hosting an ACE Fellow as experienced as Randi opens the door for new perspectives and ideas about the possibilities of small, liberal arts colleges like Guilford.”
