Kristen McManus, a seasoned higher-education administrator, has been appointed Registrar of Guilford College, Provost Maria Rosales has announced. She began work at Guilford on Jan. 17.
Reporting to the Provost, the Registrar is responsible for management of Registrar’s Office staff, student registrations, records maintenance, degree audits, classroom scheduling, collection and maintenance of grade information, student performance monitoring and a variety of other services related to student records.
Most recently, Kristen served as Deputy Registrar at Carolina University in Winston-Salem, N.C., which was established by the merger of seven colleges, universities and seminaries in 2020. She served as Deputy Registrar from February 2021 to May 2022.
“We welcome Kristen to Guilford College and the student- and faculty-centered role of Registrar,” said Maria. “Over more than 20 years in higher education positions with increasing responsibility, she has demonstrated a commitment to student success, collaboration with colleagues and problem solving, all of which are critical expectations of our Registrar. I look forward to her leadership in this important position at the College.”
As Deputy Registrar at Carolina University, Kristen coordinated with Student Records, Admissions, Financial Aid and Academic Advisement, analyzed student data and compiled monthly reports, interacted with students and faculty, served as Disability Services Coordinator, worked on a Veterans’ Affairs audit and maintained FERPA for the campus community.
Kristen has also held positions in academic advising, program development and evaluation, student activities and residential life at Winston-Salem State University, UNC Charlotte and the University of South Carolina.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in History from UNC Charlotte, a master’s of Education in Student Personnel Services from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from UNC Charlotte.
At Guilford, Kristen succeeds Alfred Moore, who was Registrar from 2017-22.
