Each year, LendEDU uses the most up-to-date financial aid data to rank which colleges provide the most financial aid to students. Schools are ranked on a total score that factors in what they offer in need-based aid, non-need-based aid, and international aid. Guilford College received a total score of 71.535 with scores of 84.903 for need-based, 52.227 for non-need-based, and 47.271 for international aid.

“As we have seen for decades now, tuition costs continue to rise. Students want a quality education at an affordable price, which is why financial aid is so important,” says Director of Financial Aid Char Bedillion. “Guilford College invests in its students through various scholarship and grant programs to make a liberal arts education both accessible and affordable."

Guilford College awarded more than $25 million in institutional scholarship and grant aid for the 2020-21 academic year. Federal and state grants provided nearly $5 million in aid to current students. The average financial aid package at Guilford, excluding student loans and student employment programs, is $27,000, and students’ tuition is frozen their first year so they never have to worry about increasing costs.

Merit scholarships ranging from $20,000 to $80,000 over four years are also offered to first-year and transfer students at the time of admission. Last year, 100 percent of full-time, first-year students who enrolled during fall 2019 received a scholarship. In addition to merit scholarships, Guilford also offers a variety of other scholarship and grant opportunities including the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Scholar Program, Quaker Leadership Scholars Program, Multicultural Leadership Scholars Program, and the Bonner Leaders Program.
