The Princeton Review names Guilford among the nation's best institutions for undergraduates to earn their college degree in its annual “Best Colleges” guide.
"We are very happy to see Guilford recognized again by the Princeton Review. Guilford's excellence is evident through our academic and extracurricular programs and all the awesome things our students accomplish,” says Interim Provost Rob Whitnell. “What is especially heartening is all that our students say about their outstanding academic and personal experiences at Guilford College. We are grateful to see the great work of the Guilford community acknowledged.”
Of America’s roughly 2,800 four-year colleges, about 14 percent receive recognition in this popular publication. Colleges are chosen based on data collected annually from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences.
"We salute Guilford College for its outstanding academics and we are truly pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their personal ‘best-fit’ college,” says Robert Franek, the Princeton Review's Editor-in-Chief and lead author of The Best 386 Colleges.
The Princeton Review does not rank colleges from 1 to 386. Instead, it reports 62 ranking lists of top 20 schools in various categories that are important to prospective applicants and their parents. Categories range from “Best Career Services” and “Great Financial Aid” to “Professors Get High Marks.” The rankings in this edition are based on the company’s surveys of 143,000 students at the 386 schools in the book.
In the “Survey Says” sidebar on Guilford’s profile, The Princeton Review lists topics that Guilfordians are in most agreement about in their survey answers. The list includes: happy students, great career services, and an environmentally aware campus.
The Best 386 Colleges is the 29th annual edition of the Princeton Review's “Best Colleges” book and one of 150 Princeton Review books in a line published by Penguin Random House.
It has been featured on NBC’s Today more than 12 times, and it’s referenced by reporters in publications from Inside Higher Education to the Wall Street Journal.
The Princeton Review is an education services company known for its tutoring, test-prep courses, books, and other student resources. Headquartered in New York City, it is not affiliated with Princeton University.
