Your Journey to Health

By majoring in Health Sciences, students complete individualized coursework designed to prepare them for admission into graduate programs in the health field of their choice. This is an ideal major for students with dreams of pursuing a career in a health field. Guilford’s pre-professional programs — Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Veterinary Medicine — prepare students to go on to graduate school in their preferred health field or to enter the workforce in other health professions.

The B.S. in Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary major that requires students to select courses from at least two of the following disciplines:

Students will also take a Health Sciences Seminar, designed to support the professional goals of Health Sciences majors by helping with the graduate school application process.

College Catalog

For more information about courses within the Health Sciences Major, visit the Academics Departments and Majors page in the College Catalog. In addition to the Undergraduate Catalog, information includes academic department and major information as well as academic regulations and resources; admission standards and requirements; and tuition, fees and financial aid information.

Hands-on Learning

In addition to coursework, Health Science majors are required to complete an internship to make sure they get experience needed for admission to graduate programs in the health professions. Health sciences internships, study abroad programs and research projects give our students opportunities to gain real-world experience.

Guilford students have also gained valuable career-related experience during health-focused internships at the following:

  • Moses Cone Family Practice
  • Guilford County Public Health Department
  • Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists
  • Wake Forest University School of Medicine
  • Triad Health Project
  • Healthserve Community Health Clinic
