Total German Immersion

Live in Munich, Germany, for a semester. Study German-speaking cultures. Intern at N.C. Global Leadership. Fall in love with German culture — on campus and abroad.

As a German major you'll study political, social, historical, artistic and literary elements of German and German-speaking cultures. And you can join other foreign language students in extracurricular activities including festivals, conversation tables, clubs, and more.

The German track within the Modern Language Studies major consists of at least 32 credits at the 102-level or above, with at least one 400-level course (two if you are completing a senior thesis). All majors are expected to study abroad with an appropriate Guilford program before graduating. German language students study abroad in Munich, Germany, for a semester.

Students planning to attend graduate school are urged to choose the senior thesis. Complement your major with another major to enhance career opportunities in such fields as hospitality, education, government, to name a few.
